Preventing Retaliation: Debrief Session for Library Employees

Wednesday, 4/17, 10:00 am-10:50 am

The Library Management Development Committee invites all members of the library community to consider participation in the University of Michigan’s training program “Building a Culture that Thrives: Preventing Retaliation.”  This training program is a key element of the university’s Culture Journey.  Please see the Program Information below to learn more about engaging with the content around preventing retaliation.

Registering for this Debrief Session for Library Employees (April 17, 10:00 am) is intended for any library employee who who has completed one of the two options above. In this facilitated debrief, we will review the key concepts of the training and discuss what these concepts might look like in practice in our library community.

A Debrief Session for Supervisors (April 18, 10:00 am) is intended for any library employee who supervises others and has completed one of the two options described in the Program Information below. Please visit this link to register for that session.

The Debrief Sessions are held online, and the Zoom link will be sent to you a few minutes after you register, as well as in a Reminder Message sent two days prior to the session.

Program Information:

At present, there are two opportunities to engage with content around preventing retaliation.

  1.  Attend a free, 4 hour in person training; by Thursday, April 11, 2024, from 8 am to Noon.  Held at Weber’s Boutique Hotel in Ann Arbor. (Note: The audience for the session is “leaders with administrative/formal supervision of at least one direct report” so priority may be given to those with direct supervisory responsibilities.)

  1. Click through the “Building a Culture That Thrives: Preventing Retaliation” online module for faculty and staff, which provides information about preventing retaliation and protecting those who report improper behavior in support of the Protection from Retaliation policy. This module is highly recommended for all U-M employees and should take about 25 minutes to complete. Please use the text-based “Building a Culture That Thrives: Preventing Retaliation Transcript” if you encounter any accessibility issues when using the My LINC training platform, and follow the directions for certifying your participation. The transcript can also be accessed from the course description in My LINC.
