In a one-hour virtual training session presented by Jill Castro, Senior Faculty and Staff Counselor from the Faculty & Staff Counseling & Consultation Office (FASCCO), library employees will learn tools and skills for setting and maintaining healthy boundaries. By the end of this training session, attendees will:
- Learn the importance of setting personal and professional boundaries.
- Know how to recognize their own limits.
- Take away tips for having difficult conversations and communicating one’s needs.
Healthy boundaries are important for our emotional well-being and an important part of workplace safety. This training supports the following U-M Library Safety Program Learning Outcomes in the areas of External Safety Communication:
33. Employees will understand how to communicate personal boundaries in interactions with library patrons and the organizational support for upholding reasonable boundaries.
34. Employees will understand how to disengage from a challenging patron interaction and seek additional support if necessary.
39. Employees will practice self-care techniques to manage stress and maintain professional composure.
