Reparative Metadata Work in Deep Blue Repositories

Wednesday, 3/4, 2:00 pm-3:00 pm

Event: Wednesday, March 4, 2026, 2-3 pm
Location: Zoom

Join Rachel Woodbrook, Alli Rayburn, and Caroline Adams for a one-hour session as they present their work as laid out in Reparative Description and Metadata Remediation Planning at the University of Michigan Deep Blue Institutional Repositories, and updates to implementation from Winter 2026. This work focuses on Deep Blue Documents and Deep Blue Data, collections that span from 1863 to the present with over 160,000 deposits.

The speakers will outline the motivating principles behind reparative description, share insights from recent case studies, and discuss practical strategies for collaborative metadata repair and remediation. This session will offer valuable guidance for building more inclusive, sustainable practices in self-deposit repositories, and will be especially relevant for colleagues interested in anti-racist work and advancing reparative metadata initiatives within academic library collections.

All are welcome to attend and learn more about bridging theory and practice in the evolving landscape of institutional repositories.
