Difficult & Crucial Conversations: Practical Tools for Library Supervisors

Monday, 4/20, 1:00 pm-2:30 pm

Join facilitators Deb Jackson, Jeff Witt, and the Management Development Committee for a session on Difficult & Crucial Conversations: Practical Tools for Library Supervisors. This 90 minute workshop is geared toward library employees with supervisory responsibilities, but is open to all interested staff.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify common avoidance and “replacement” behaviors—and what the data shows about their consequences.
  2. Understand how crucial or difficult conversations impact individual employee experiences and organizational culture.
  3. Prepare for and communicate effectively during difficult and crucial conversations.
  4. Apply dialogue skills to better understand the other person’s perspective and build collaboration.
  5. Lead a meaningful conversation that surfaces key viewpoints and results in a clear, actionable plan.

The Zoom link for this session will be included in the confirmation message you receive shortly after you register, as well as in an automatic reminder message sent two days prior to the session.
