Your research tells a story! ESRI’s ArcGIS StoryMaps is one of the most commonly used GIS resources on our campus across all disciplines. This workshop will be an introduction to what StoryMaps are and whether one is right for your project. There will be time for Q&A at the end where we can talk about participants’ specific projects. No experience necessary.

This workshop will provide an overview of data visualization principles. It will help participants to develop a language and sense of design elements necessary for creating data visualizations in any software. It will cover best practices and how to approach designing data visualizations.

This workshop will introduce creating visualizations using R and tidyverse. It will cover basic principles of visualization and how to create them in R. No prior knowledge of either is required. We will use Google Colab so no need to install anything ahead of time but please bring a laptop if you can.

Curious about maps? The Clark Library has one of the largest map collections in the country, spanning over 450,000 maps and atlases. This interactive session will start with a brief overview of map reading, after which participants will be encouraged to browse a selection of maps and atlases from the Clark Library and ask questions.
