The Library Copyright Office has recently seen an uptick in questions that involve AI.
For example:
— article submissions being rejected for plagiarism [or self-plagiarism] where a publisher implemented antiplagiarism software as part of the submission process (the software flagged work previously deposited in a repository or posted on a university website and treated the new submission incorrectly as plagiarism)
— questions about text and data mining using AI on a large corpus of copyrighted material
— ingesting into Maizey large amounts of journal articles / ebooks to create learning materials
In this workshop, we will have an interactive conversation about some of these specific issues, and other copyright / AI issues that are on the minds of our registrants. Please come with questions for discussion with the group — we’ll reserve at least half of our time to try to work through challenges you may have.
Examples will be drawn mostly from science disciplines but all are welcome.
Join Melissa Levine and Jeremy York of the Library’s Copyright Office to discuss current concerns with an emphasis on proactive solutions to advance research and science.
