Fostering Authentic Engagement in Online Discussions in the Age of AI

Thursday, 8/21, 12:00 pm-1:00 pm

As generative AI becomes a common tool in students’ academic lives, instructors are increasingly challenged to encourage genuine participation and reduce reliance on responses generated by AI. This workshop explores how intentionally designed online discussion forums can shift student motivation away from compliance and toward meaningful, self-directed engagement. Participants will learn how to use the platform Yellowdig (available to LSA instructors) to build a space where students want to engage in thoughtful conversation with their peers all on their own.
