Designing Active Learning Experiences

Wednesday, 8/19, 11:00 am-11:50 am

Active learning strategies, where students are active participants during the learning experience remains a best practice in learning design. While many instructors are familiar with the concept of active learning, designing meaningful and effective active learning activities can be challenging, especially when learning spaces implicitly promote passive teaching practices. In this session, participants will be introduced to a practical framework for planning and designing active learning experiences. The session will also feature concrete examples of active learning assignments drawn from LSA courses, providing participants with practical ideas for incorporating active learning into their own courses.
