Complying With The New NIH Public Access Policy

Friday, 6/27, 12:00 pm-1:00 pm

The 2024 NIH Public Access Policy (NIH PAP) will now go into effect on July 1, 2025, replacing the existing 2008 Public Access Policy. The 2024 Policy applies to any NIH-funded Author Accepted Manuscript (final peer-reviewed manuscript) accepted for publication in a journal on or after July 1, 2025.

The new policy requires the submission of an electronic version of the Author Accepted Manuscript to PubMed Central immediately upon acceptance for publication, without embargo, to be made publicly available on the Official Date of Publication. (The prior policy allowed for up to a 12 month embargo period before public availability).

Join us on Zoom to walk through everything you need to know about NIH Public Access Policy compliance, including:
– Determining if your paper is subject to the policy
– How to submit your manuscripts to PubMed Central
– How to track compliance in NCBI My Bibliography
– How to associate publications with your grant in eRA Commons and cite publications on Progress Reports
