This workshop demystifies the complex world of academic publishing metrics for researchers. Designed specifically for graduate engineering students [but applicable to all disciplines] this session will explore traditional impact factors (like H-index and FWCI), emerging alternative metrics, and practical strategies for identifying quality publication venues while avoiding predatory journals.
In this workshop, you will learn:
-How to verify if a journal is legitimately peer-reviewed using Ulrich’s Directory
-Techniques to identify and avoid predatory journals that could damage your academic reputation
-Strengths and limitations of traditional metrics like Impact Factor and H-index (and how to look them up)
The URL for this session will be included in the confirmation message you receive 5-10 minutes after you register, as well as in an automatic reminder message sent two days prior to the session.
